I would have thought that attempting to use the beast as a laptop risks leg amputation due to loss of circulation wheelchair.gif

Now that the "31 days of the Dragon" promotion is effectively over, I for one will be interested to see just how many of these units actually sell as it strikes me as very much a niche product.

By that I mean, at over 7kg and an awkward carrying size it's not exactly what springs to mind when one thinks of a portable computer. Also for the $5,500 RRP here in Australia, I could build a desktop system that at least equals (and in some cases has double) the specifications AND buy a perfectly good mid-range laptop AND still have $2,000 left over.

I'm not saying it's not a good product or that it's not well engineered, I'm just wondering what the real level of demand will be. In many ways it's the opposite of the very successful ASUS Eee-PC.

Does anyone know if these models (or similar) are still sold? HP Australia lists them as discontinued.

Not that I have any intention of buying one, I was just wondering if my doubts as to its market viability (re post 11 above) were accurate.

They have been pulled from the US line up too...
