Hi, having owned Crysis since it came out but have now just got round to installing it, i cannot run the game from the game folder, when i click to launch the game i get an error window saying 'Could not launch main application' & the game will not load. I tried browsing to the games bin64 directory, there are 2 exe's 1. crysis.exe 2. crysis64.exe , if i run the first one i get the same error, if i run the second one i get ' The application failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.' Whatever that means Ps i played the demo just fine in 64bit ..... |

You may need to reinstall or something, I run crysis (64 bit) on Vista 64 without issue. You do need to make sure you're on the latest nvidia drivers for your video card. Perhaps try upgrading the video drivers prior to a reinstall of crysis. if i run the second one i get ' The application failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.' Whatever that means if you click Start and type "eventvwr" into the text box, it'll bring up event viewer. In the event viewer, expand "Windows Logs" and click on "Application".. you may have to search a little bit for the particular entry it was talking about if it didn't just happen right before you got that error message. Thx for the info, do you think i should re-install even tho the 32bit version works fine? Here is the info from the event viewer 'Activation context generation failed for "E:\crysis\Bin64\crysis64.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis' LOL, that makes no sense to me Think i will re- install anyway just for the hell of it........ |

If you search on that error, it seems to be a fairly common one in vista relating to Side By Side. Some posts suggest reinstalling the visual c runtime libraries (which MIGHT be done by the crysis installer, I don't know). The MSDN site apparently has some documentation on this problem, but I guess they're running it on a 2400bps modem or something for the webserver, cuz I can't get any pages to come up there. Have you checked with EA support yet? This post has been edited by kelemvor: Dec 21 2007, 03:04 PM |

Thanks for the added info, i've now fixed the problem following this guide http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=249874 , it seems it was the C++ libraries, i had 3 entries which i removed using the guide in the link, then re-installed crysis & it works...Hurrah, now to get back to working out how to destroy those two tanks in 64bit game mode :)
