I'm running a 64-bit build of Vista -- I have been unable to get sound to work in any way.
I have tried my Creative Sound Blaster Live, and the AC'97 (ALC850) module for my DFI UT nF4 Ultra-D motherboard. I managed to get the SB Live XP x64 drivers to install, but I still get no audio through the speakers. Device Manager reports that the drivers are working fine, and Media Player plays, but I hear nothing. I also have tried the kX drivers, and the NGO drivers. Neither worked. For the AC'97, I tried both Realtek drivers from this site and from the Realtek website (version 6183). Again, I could get them to install, but I still can't hear anything from the speakers. I have checked, double-checked, triple-checked, and so on that nothing is muted... and I tried two sets of headphones to make sure it wasn't the speakers. Any idea what may be going on here? Vista is great -- but with no sound, it sucks. Thanks. This post has been edited by Sean C.: Nov 21 2006, 01:28 PM |

I could kiss you, but I won't.
My SB Live! works great in XP x64, as well as 64-bit Fedora Core 6 Linux. I didn't know what the front panel connectors had to do with it, but once I plugged them in, I can get sound out of the back. Looks like it's stereo online for the time being until Realtek releases new drivers. But thank you. :) Vista was starting to blow with now sound. Still can't get the SB Live to work, but as long as Realtek eventually releases drivers that will let me use EAX on 64-bit Vista, I'll be happy. Thanks again. |
