FOR VISTA 64 TRY THIS

I FOUND SOMETHING REALLY COOL AND WILL PROBABLY WORK WITH MOST SCANJET SCANNERS.

HAS WORKED ON 4600 , 3970, others

I WAS PLAYING AROUND AND DECIDED TO JUST TRY THE "HP PHOTO AND IMAGING SOFTWARE DISC THAT CAME WITH MY SCANNER.
IF YOU UNPLUG SCANNER, LOAD SOFTWARE ( AT THE END OF THE INSTALL IT CRAPS OUT AND SAYS THERE IS A PROBLEM ) JUST CONTINUE, THEN PLUG IN SCANNER.

WORKS WORKS WORKS , YOU CAN ONLY USE THE PHOTO AND IMAGING SOFTWARE THAT COMES WITH THE SCANNER, NO TWAIN NO NOTHING ELSE, BUT YOU WILL AT LEAST HAVE A FUNTIONING SCANNER.

TRY THIS AND SEE IF IT WORKS, THEN RESPOND,I WILL KEEP A LIST OF SCANNERS THIS WORKS FOR. r0n e O

I have a ScanJet 5370C so since Microtek is taking care of their older customers, I guess taht will be my next scanner. Here is what I found out...

Products That Will Be Supported
Windows XP x64 support is planned for the listed HP Scanjet scanners and will be available soon. HP will initially provide basic driver support only on x64. With basic drivers, you can scan using the Windows XP Scanner and Camera Wizard. Alternatively, you can use a variety of scanner-enabled, third-party software applications. The full HP scanner software solution will be available later this year. To be alerted of when support is available, you may sign up for Driver and Software Updates at: http://www.subscription.support.hp.com/hpss/SWSignup.

I have recently (yesterday) been in phone contact with HP Executive offices. I thought that I finally was getting somewhere. Their only question was, "where did you get the information that your scanjet would be supported under x64?" I directed them to the document that imagepro quoted. I was told only that there are plans for the development. I told them that people are really po-ed about this and it's the IT guys that they're po-ing. I reiterated to them (both in my email and orally) my moratorium on purchasing HP products. I told them that if they wanted an eyeful, they should go to this site and see just how po-ed we are. The latest round I've had with them is that my scanner actually broke hardware-wise (I've been using it hooked to an old machine running 32-bit XP Pro) and they would not honor their warranty. I bought it 9/16/2005 and they told me according to their database that the warranty began 2/2/2005, 7 months before I bought it. Fortunately ABC Warehouse honored their extended warranty that I bought.

Apparently, if you send enough email to HP CEO Mark Hurd (there's a link under the contact HP link on their website), you will get a response. I would urge all who are as angry as I to contact him.
