I've got a really strange problem with Itunes on my x64 system. When i close Itunes, it just restarts again. So the only way i can really shut it down, is to go into taskmanager and kill the app. Does anyone have the same problem, or know a solution? It's really annoying ranting.gif

If you think that anapod explorer can replace iTunes than you must be foolish.

For a start........I NEVER said it was a 'replacement'??.........I said it was an 'alternative'!!

QUOTE
As has already been explained in this thread, a jukebox program is needed. A song catalog program is needed. Anapod explorer does not fill these functions. At all. iTunes fills these needs very well and does more besides.

You obviously have no idea as to what Anapod is capable of??.........yes......I know it aint got the GLOSS of iTunes.....but it is a damn good ALTERNATIVE to the much 'over hyped' and 'system hogging' software that Apple want one to use!!

I have an iPod NANO and with this software it does everything I need and more!......so how come your NEEDS require more than most??.........??

QUOTE
Are you so dense as to believe that your "needs" are the only legitimate "needs"?

I NEVER said that my NEEDS were the only LEGITIMATE ones either!!??...its MY view!

You are as arrogant as you are dumb.

I like itunes - I like being able to obtain songs I want (legally) at a reasonable price. That coupled with it's functionality makes anapod not a choice.

There is another forum here for arguements. This forum seeks solutions for specific issues. Burning CD's using itunes. The issue was vented, addressed and now resolved.

Thanks for your opinions sir - they clearly have enlightened many.

You will? When? Maybe after counting your available RAM &/or swapfile?

'I'll' be looking forward to that epiphany.

I'm sorry scaramonga, but what the hell are you baseing your argument on?! Compared to media players such as Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource, WinAmp, RealOne Jukebox and MusicMatch, iTunes uses less memory and less CPU time. SO what's your problem? Its one of the most efficient music players out there, doesn't hog your system at all!

Save your breath. As far as he's concerned Anapod explorer is the cure for all of life's ills, and any other program is absolute crap.

Actually I-Tunes has worked very well for me. I have it on Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP Pro and now on Windows XP Pro x64. The only catch I had was the Gear driver and now with the update someone so kindly supplied I can even burn CDs on x64. Thanks everyone.

Have a happy new year!

Very cool, this was the only bug I had left with x64...now my system is complete again.

As for Anapod explorer....seriously, I cannot see spending any money on something when Itunes suits my needs just fine. Itunes doesnt let you copy off of the ipod, but the ipod plugin for winamp does. Itunes is not slow on my system and if you are posting on this board you should have a good enough system to handle Itunes with no problem.

In order to install iTunes and/or Quicktime, you have at least these two options:

● Remove the Microsoft Security Update 908531, which is described as:
"Vulnerability in Windows Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution"
- I did not do this because a dialog popped-up warning that a long list of programs may fail to function properly afterwards... I decided to go with the next option.

● Install Quicktime 7.0.4 and/or iTunes 6.0.4

- Seems to have worked with both installs, I ran both programs, but have not restarted yet because I'm too lazy to come back and post this afterward... if it doesn't work currently, I'll come back and let you all know.

-FYI, my x64 is fully Micrsoft patched as of 2006.08.05 (including all optional updates)

I must credit Antony and Mandrake at SillyDog701 for these fixes.

hmm, the above options don't seem to work for me. The iTunes installer just states that the software doesn't support x64. any other suggestions greatly appreciated!

thx

Anyone tried to install quicktime 7.1 or itunes 6.0.4 to x64, recently? Today, I installed itunes 6.0.4 with quicktime 7.1 without any problem. This is the first time I installed it successfully. The same file made trouble to install quicktime 7.1 before. So, I installed 7.0.4 instead.

I fully updated my security patch for xp x64 (it usually gave the error), do you think microsoft fixed the problem? I newly installed my os today since I got new hard.

I think the problem was addressed by M$ and/or Apple sometime in the spring.

itunes and quicktime works on my X64 after following these simple steps:

I uninstalled incompatible itunes and quicktime
I deleted the QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx files from my Windows\SysWOW64 folder and all the leftovers of the previous installments. (intunes and quicktime folders)

1. I downloaded and installed the updated MS06-015 from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms06-015.mspx
2. I downloaded both iTunes 6.0.4 http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm , and QT 7.0.4 http://www.oldapps.com/quicktime_player.htm
3. Installed them.

I hope this will help as it solves mine.
