I have been trying to get my Asus K8V SE Deluxe to work fully with Vista Beta 2. The main issue I am having now is the driver for the Promise 378 controller. Beta 2 installs fine without the driver but when I try to add the driver after installation, it says that it cannot find a specified file. Sadly that is all the information it gives me but I am sure it has to do with the fasttx2k.sys file. So I tried to run to add the driver in while installing Beta 2. During installation, only this driver will work with the installation, all the others are "missing files". With that driver added in, the installer now sees my other hard drives and the installation proces can begin. But once Beta 2 tries to restart an error message pops up with the information that the fasttx2k.sys file has a status 0xc0000428 which it proceeds to tell me that the image hash connot be found in the system catologs. The image is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering. Any help owuld be greatly appreacted. If you require any more information to solve this issue I will try to provide you with what I can. |

I have gotten the same error and I've tried times w/ several versions of the Promise FasTrak 378 controller driver. Has anyone gotten Vista beta 2 to install on a raid 0 w/ the promise 378 controller? If so, which driver, and how did you go about doing it. Install from dvd within x64 or boot from dvd. Do you have to turn off driver signing after, or prior to installation. The problem I'm having is: I can see my hard drives after loading my promise driver from floppy. Vista goes through copying files and starts installing, then I get the error: fasttx2k.sys file has a status 0xc0000428 which it proceeds to tell me that the image hash connot be found in the system catologs. The image is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering Or another unknown error and then Vista install exits and removes everything except the dual boot menu. I gave up last weekend and unpartitioned my raid array. I'm thinking about buying an IDE Ultra DMA ATA133 HD to install on my secondary IDE slot. Or on my PR1 raid slot, and leave it unconfigured for Raid. If I do this, will I need to unplug my harddrives in the raid array? Or can I just install Vista to the new HD. And will I be able to boot to either the raid 0 (XP x64), or the IDE w/ Vista? |

Thanks! Vista Beta 2 X64. As far as the Promise Drivers. The ones that were recognized where the RC1 decorated onesd found here: http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?autom...ads&showfile=11 but after Vista goes through installation I get the missing hash error. And the newest X64 promise Drivers give me the other unkown error |

Unfortunately I see the same error as both of you :( I can see the drivers upon boot up but just like you guys I get the hash error message. Hopefully somebody that is knowledgeable can get it to work. Maybe its as simple as modifying something in the INF??? |

It seems that this issue has to due with the fact that Vista wants signed drivers only. Apparently the 378 driver is unisgned. It looks like you can hit F8 on boot up and tell windows to load unsigned drivers. i tried this and got further but I BSOD right before boot up :( I get the infamous "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" or something like that. The other problem with the above is that you have to do it each time you boot vista. Well, I found this thread: http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showtopic=22966 That tells you how to do it from the cli, but I can't seem to get it to work that way. If anybody can get it to work, let me know. Might as well post my specs. Asus A8V Deluxe AMD64 3500+ 2GB Mushkin PC3200 Asus X800XT PE Audigy2 ZS 2 WD Raptors running in MIRROR mode(raid0? The Promise driver just does not work. Interestingly, I had to use a May 2005 VIA RAID driver to install x64 Vista initially, as none of the more up to date ones would work. Figure that.

Patience has its virtue, gang. After many days of trying, the following works for the Promise 378 RAID0 drivers in Vista. 1) The problem is due to driver signing. Use the Promise20378_64 drivers, dated 5/5/2005. Prepare by unzipping to a 120mg floppy if you have one, otherwise, extract the files and move the x64 ones to your floppy along with the oemsetup file. 2) Go to http://203.131.140.238/beta/PCC1455Vista/notes_Vista64.htm for an easy way to set up a command line on your desktop. Follow the directions on how to disable the driver signing on your Vistax64 system, and reboot. 3) Go to Control panel through to device Manager, click on your unknown controller (find the promise one of you have more than one), and install drivers using the address where you have the floppy. 4) Mecca....in explorer your disk drives now show both SCSI and promise controllers. Good luck. This post has been edited by Jack Moore: Jun 25 2006, 10:28 AM |

How are you running BCDedit, without being able to boot into Vista? Maybe I need to use the same drivers? "Promise20378_64 drivers, dated 5/5/2005" Where did you download these from? I didn't see them in the planets download section? This post has been edited by Witch8r: Jun 26 2006, 08:11 AM |

Witch..there is only one other way I know of. Check for a thread on bcdedit and the process is there, but it is not enough detail to work (for me anyway). Run the Vista install disk by booting from it, and when you get to the recovery line in the left hand corner, click on it. When it asks for a driver (load) click on next, and you should get a screen with multiple entries . click on command prompt. You will see \windows\system32\winload.exe, type bcdedit. You should be able to change the bootloader with the line "-set nointegritycheck ON" (without the quotes). Best of luck.

I think I may need the same driver you used, could you PLEASE post a link for it. I managed to install Vista beta 2 32bit on my old AMD1600+ computer without a problem. Go figure, Vista installs on old technology, easier than newer |

A driver that should work can be found in the download section, www.planetamd64.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=240 Unfortunately, I do not recall were I got the 20378(9) driver. Hope this helps. As noted above, the older drivers seem to work for many of the more recent OS's (x64). |

One thing that isn't mentioned in here that I ran into... if you are not running the controller in RAID mode (aka ATA), then you need to switch to RAID mode in your BIOS in order for the drivers to work. After you do they work great!

I am having this exact same problem. I am able to install the 32bit version on my RAID with no problems, but the x64 version stops with the very same message you receive. I am frustrated with this because each installation takes so long to complete copying files to the hard drive during setup. Any help would definitely be greatly appreciated! |
