The DX9 demo is telling me my system isn't adequate to play the demo. I think it's probably because of WinXP x64, considering my other system specs.

Fairly quick fix:

download and install orca from here:
http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?autom...mp;showfile=203

when you start the setup, it will extract the files to a folder in \Documents and Settings\*username*\Local Settings\Temp\{F3A763C1-045A-4A00-9A51-FF892DE983CE}
the code in the brackets will probably not be the same on your machine, but if you look in the folders, you will see a file called "LOST PLANET TRIAL DX9.msi"

when the error box pops up, don't close it.
instead copy the folder containing the .msi file to somewhere safe.
if you close the error box before copying the folder, the setup will delete it from the temp folder

after copying, you can close the error box and exit setup

go to the folder you just copied and if you have installed orca, you can right click on the "LOST PLANET TRIAL DX9.msi" file and select "Edit with Orca"

once Orca opens, find the line "LaunchCondition" and delete the data
Attached File  orca.JPG ( 92.08K ) Number of downloads: 233

save and exit and double click the "LOST PLANET TRIAL DX9.msi" file to install in XP x64 thmbup.gif

There is no MSI...there is only JPEG which I do not know what to do with.

EDIT: I downloded it from another source...tnx anyway.

Attached File  download.JPG ( 101.67K ) Number of downloads: 64

clicking there downloads a file called "[203]orca.rar"

Attached File  _203_orca.jpeg ( 105.81K ) Number of downloads: 26

If I edit .jpeg to .rar everything is working...LOL?! laughbounce2.gif

I got the latest Directx distro and on startup i keep getting the error message Usupported shader model 2.0, and then the demo closes. Any ideas what could be causing this? Im running Vista Ultimate with a X800gto2.

Which version of Lost Planet, their are two versions. DirectX9 and DirectX 10, your graphics card is only DirectX9 capable. Try the DirectX 9, version on Lost Planet, and see if that solves the problem. Shader model 3, is what DirectX10 capable graphics cards use.

Are your graphics card drivers upto date. You might want to check with the maker of your graphics card and see if they have the latest drivers. If your video card drivers are upto date and, if you still get the same error, then it is time to invest in a new video card.
