Hi I'm trying to stretch some more life out of my 754 socket. Has anyone tried to use a AMD 64 Athlon Mobile in any K8N-Neo3 motherboards? I have talked to two MSI & one ASUS Techs that say it won't work. Tom an AMD Tech thinks it will saying it's the same as the desktop only better, that is it uses less power runs cooler and has better E5 stepping and is unlocked. People selling them say thay are a direct crossover, I typed at one that said he ran it (Athlon 64 M 3700+ AMN3700BKX5BU) in a ASUS K8N-NEO4 Deluxe 754 and it worked fine. I'm just not sure if the difference between the Neo3 & Neo4 would matter. If anyone has tried this let me know good or bad what happened. Thanks =Dan= This post has been edited by kassx1: Jun 23 2007, 06:05 PM |

Yes the AMD Clawhammer core and Newark core mobile CPUs work great right out of the box. I also used the same motherboard as you have and it automatically set everything correctly in bios. They are also cooler and use less wattage. Being that the mobile cpus are thinner ,you just have to make sure the heatsink is snug on the cpu and you may have to use a spacer. They are blazing fast and you can get them on Ebay for under $100.00.
