Warning: This software is unofficial, not supported by Creative Technology Ltd.
Use it at your own risk.

This utility was written from scratch and does not contain any copyrighted code.
Creative's director of developer relations, George Thorn told me, in a chat session, that is OK to provide mods as patches.
It does not modify any executable or DLL, so it is NOT a crack.

Dolby Digital Live Unlocker for Creative SB X-Fi series 1.0.0.0 - by Daniel Kawakami
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WARNING: Use this utility at your own risk, without any guaranties.

This small utility will unlock Dolby Digital Live on any X-Fi card, except the X-Fi Xtreme Audio.

It requires Administrator privileges, so under Windows Vista, User Account Control (UAC) will prompt you with a security warning.

How to use:

1) Install the unofficial "SB X-Fi Series Installation Disc for Windows XP/Vista" from Daniel Kawakami (daniel_k).
At least Audio Console or Console Launcher must be installed.

2) Close any running Creative applications or restart Windows in Safe Mode.
Run DDLUnlocker.exe and follow the instructions.

3) Download the latest Auzen X-Fi Prelude driver from:
http://www.auzentech.com/site/download/updates.php
Unpack with full paths.
Open \Audio\Setup and copy CmnSupt.cab, CTCabEx.dll and engine32.cab to \Audio\DDL.

4) Install the Dolby Digital Live Pack:
Open \Audio\DDL and run Setup.exe.
Save the contents in this folder for future installaions.

5) Restart Windows and run Audio Console or Console Launcher.

IMPORTANT: Do not try to enable both Decoder and Encoder at the same time or you'll get static sound.

Enjoy!

I can confirm this works on XP x64 and Vista x64.

I was going to post this, but I wasn't sure if it was kosher to do so whistling.gif

But anyway, these drivers and the DDL unlocker rocks!

I now have Dolby Digital Live through SPDIF out! yeah.gif

My home theater system really sounds great now.

You can see all of Daniel K's drivers here:

Now wait!
Does this mean that the issues with Creative's cards might not be due to Vista?
And might possibly be due to Creative not wanting to write the drivers properly?????

LOL!

Yep, I now have DD decoder and DDL encoder on Creative Control Panel.

I have what Creative promised me on the box, then took away in the drivers.

Thank you Daniel_K worthy.gif worthy.gif worthy.gif

That could be why Creative allowed the post...
