Here is my video, Maggie's Idea of Giving:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rarTml6i9BE I was going to write a story to tell you all about why my husband could really use this but I decided to tell you what has happened to us in the last 2 weeks. We have been through an awful lot and he has been so amazing through it all. -It all started the week before Thanksgiving when I got sick. -Then I got my 9 month old sick. -November 20th-I got a phone call that my Uncle had died of pneumonia. -Son's cold turned into an ear infection -November 23rd-My Grandpa died of Cancer -My husband and I drove 6 hours with our son to my grandpa's funeral. Work has been really slow lately and we are pretty strapped for cash but we took the time off of work to go. -Get back into town and find out my son needs hernia surgery on December 11th!! -My work is closed due to a power outage across our city -December 3rd My husband totaled my truck and we find out we have to spend $550 for our deductible and $130 in fines because, even though he was going 15 mph, he was driving too fast for conditions. -During the car accident, my husband was only mildly hurt but his computer was crushed due to the impact of the tree through the passenger side window. He is an IT guy for a Dental Office in town and his computer is his life. We are far from being able to afford to replace his laptop and if I were to win this contest I would be able to give the man that I love a new start. Winning this contest would help us to start rebuilding our lives. We have seen far too much devastation in the last 3 weeks. I would donate at least 1 computer to the school that I work for. I tutor underprivileged, special-needs high school students and I know that they would be thrilled with a new computer to work with! Thank you for this opportunity. Happy Holidays! |

I would like to start of by saying thank you for this amazing contest. My name is Cristian Ballesteros and I live in Bogota, Colombia. If I win this grand giveaway I think I will put it to best use because not only will I use it but hundreds if not thousands of people will use the hardware as well. I am a 20 year old College student who is struggling, along with my class mates to finish our school work and assignments. At our College we have a “Compu Center” which in reality is a computer lab that is based of 15 donated computers to be used for school work for the College students. You may say well 15 computers is a lot. Not really when you consider the number of students whom attend College to be able to live a better life. If I win this contest I will donate everything but the HP Mini (I will keep for myself) to our Compu Center at college. The donated hardware will be used by hundreds of College students and we will ALL be grateful for your geneirosity. If I win I will also contact local news channels to record and evidence the donation and to give thanks to you and HP. God Bless. |

Please visit my video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXhCQluZKH4 to meet the people that the HP Magic Giveaway would benefit if I won.
I have taught High School Business classes for almost eighteen years now. My school has a diverse population and more almost three-quarters of them are eligible for free or reduced lunch. We can’t afford to keep up with the technology that our students need to be exposed to. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home. When I heard about HP’s Magic Giveaway, I was so excited because I felt this would help my students in such a major way. Imagine $6,000 in HP technology for my classroom. I know I certainly could use a new computer. This summer I plan to take some online courses to get my graduate degree in Special Education. With so many of our students mainstreamed into the regular education classes I feel that furthering my education won’t just help me but help the students that need the most help. Of course I could also use the computer to create interactive and exciting lesson plans. I would share my computer with my husband who recently lost his job. He is an individual who is listed as a statistic in the mass layoffs you’ve been reading about in the paper. What some people forget is that every statistic is a person first and foremost. He would be able to use the computer to research job openings and compose cover letters and resumes that will hopefully get him re-employed. My youngest son is now in the Army and getting ready to leave for Iraq. Over the past several years I’ve had students leave for the same destination. It is for this reason I have been involved with the Adopt a Soldier Program. We send a goody box to soldiers once a month as well as cards and letters. I would love to gift him with one of the computers so he can keep in touch with friends and family. I consider myself a compassionate person. I’m involved with projects like “Adopt a Soldier” and “Adopt a Family for the Holidays.” Even though money is tight I know that I have things that matter like time and special talents which are appreciated by people in need. Thank you again for having this great giveaway. |

Deciding whom to share the magic with was easy: My dad! He loves computers and technology as much as I do, however, I would never make the leap of calling him a techie. My dad spends lots of time on his email. It’s his social hour. He gets lots of spam, and he actually enjoys it. Well, he must enjoy it because no matter how many times I offer to get him a new account he insists on keeping his current one. The why: I can just imagine all the fun we’ll have together showing him these awesome gifts! |

I'm the girl in the black dress - the other images represent people and organizations I want to share with. It's been such a difficult year for so many - whomever wins, it will mean a lot to the recipients. If I were to win, I would want to share with organizations as well as individuals. I'd like to keep one laptop, give one to a local animal rescue, give one to an organization that helps wildlife, and possibly one to an afterschool program. The printer to my brother, and the DVD include with my Giving Tree gift. |

Thanks for this awesome opportunity.
YouTube Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSgViB542cE My sons are as different as day and night. Therefore, they were not close as children. When my eldest moved to another state twelve years ago, they became even more distant emotionally. Last year, it dawned on me that we needed to spend more than just one day together at Christmas. I booked us a five-day cruise as a family Christmas present. It was the best gift we could have received as a family! It is true the family that plays together stays together. We are now all very much in tuned with each other feelings and communicate much better. Since there are four computers in the HP Magic Giveaway - I would share with my family and each one would get a brand new HP Christmas bling! My boys are both new and struggling businessmen and have each had a tough year financially. My oldest son (32 years-old) has had a jagged year. He is in the middle of remodeling his home and a contractor really took advantage of him - left him high and dry. He is just now getting back on his feet. I would gift him the desktop. That way he can have an awesome computer to come home to when his house is finally finished. My youngest (30 years-old) is now putting the third engine in his work van. He is a small business man (plumber) and desperately needs his van for his jobs. His engine just broke again last week. Through it all, he still has a smile on his face. I know a Christmas laptop would keep it there. |

good enough |
for me, my mum, my sister, my dad and a close friend of the family- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WL87wY7aZW8
edit: I just realised how much I wrote, sorry about that My mum and both have the same model of laptop which is unfortunately a lemon . They have both decided to deteroirate which has affected our daily lives. I am mainly concerned about my mother's laptop not working because she works for the Australian branch of a charity called Hope Worldwide and her computer is so important in her job. In the whole of australia the organisation has a workforce that consists of just her and her "boss" and this puts a lot of strain on her to get things done efficiently which is being hindered by her crummy laptop. Her charity aims to bring aid to the people of Papua New Guinea who aren't getting the aid they need from other organisations who focus more on africa and seem to forget about other countries in strife. They are having trouble generating the funds to do this work. I really want to give a really nice laptop to her this christmas so she can have a stable system to use and not have to put up with a second rate hunk of junk. I would love a new laptop too as mine has the tendency to shut down whilst in the middle of important tasks, freese up on me and skip the flashing bar around to different parts of a document i am writing and cause mayhem and destruction in the process. I am very technically minded and am good with computers but these problems go way beyond anything I could handle and it would cost too much to get a professional to fix it . I get so frustrated when i cant even get my laptop to charge, even when trying to hold the power cord in a special way to get it to connect. I have made computers a big part of my life and it is so frustrating when i cant even do a simple thing like kept the machine running or plug in headphones into the headphone jack. So I would keep one on the laptops and the netbook for myself. The laptop will replace my old one and I will use the netbook to play my favourite old games whilst in the car and other times that i have nothing to do whilst out and about:P, catch up with my friends on all those social networking sites i have been meaning to sign up with and bring it touse as a spare computer when i game at my friends house with minimal fuss. The totally amazing touchsmart pc will be used by me and my family as an awesome everything and anything computer for us to use. we are all in need on a good central system for the house as out network is hard to juggle without one. All of my family are fans of pc gaming and it would be so be amazing to play games like starcraft and Dungeon seige on it with them. You can rest assured it will be will be heaps. The printer will given to a friend of our family who is i need of a new one. and the office software will be great for me and my sister as we are using a free word processor to do all our homework with (i am in year 8 and my sister is in year 11 which means lots of essays for her and an increasing number for me) and it isn't cutting it anymore. thanks for this amazing opportunity to possibly be able give a little hp magic to a few people who are nearest and dearest to me. ps: i wanted to put my sister and our friend in the animoto video but they are camera shy Jake Perdue note: if i am lucky enough to win r could you please email me at cheesewookie@gmail.com and tell me because i check i check it daily but dont go on any other websites like this one because i can because of my computer situation and the frustration it causes This post has been edited by CheeseWookie: Dec 10 2008, 08:11 AM |

this is my entry for the contest. I'm in the first picture, but the rest are of the school I want to help. I am entering this contest because I would like to further support the School for Arts in Learning (SAIL) in Washington, DC. SAIL is a unique K-8 public charter school providing multiple creative environments, opportunities, and experiences for inner city youth through arts-infused academic programs. They take underprivileged and special needs students and use the arts in order to help them through their immediate situations, many of which are quite dire. By using a special arts-infused method of teaching, SAIL thinks outside the box in order to come up with innovative methods of serving children and youth with differing learning styles. Their focus is on developing the whole child, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. This school is unique because they take kids that society has given up on and they give them hope. Through a rigorous education schedule and intensive, artistic training, they turn these kids into good students and good citizens. However, this is a public school and is heavily dependent on donations, which are increasingly few and far between. Because they are not for profit, there is a constant struggle for resources. Times are tough right now and not many people are donating, including my family, not because they do not want to, but because they cannot. I would like to help them significantly in this effort through the donation of computers and software. These kids have lived through harder times than most of us will ever see and they deserve this second chance. They deserve the opportunity to explore themselves and the world around them through art and intellectual curiosity. |

This isn't going to be a save the world story but I hope readers will still be interested. I will start with how this package will effect me since that's the least important. Okay, I will attempt to stray away from the sob stories. Anyways I am 19 years old and I never went to college, I couldn't afford it and My family moved way too much for it to work out, recently though I have been getting into classes on line, I'm attempting to become a network administrator but that requires me to have a working computer, my current one is horrible. It crashes randomly, and I am constantly asking tech support forums for their help, having a new laptop would just enable so much. I can not even begin to tell you how much. I have a desk top now and the portable does not exist, when I heard about these give aways that was the first thing that came to my mind, then I realized what else I could do if I won the package. My sister is 22 and she just had her second baby, she is doing very well taking care of them, but she can not afford anything not absolutely necessary. She has a computer now but it is horrible, ads that have flash cause he computer to crash, she can not go on a lot of the sites that she introduced me to, it's not a very fun thing to know. If I win this contest, and I know I won't :( she without a doubt in my mind deserves a new laptop, on top of that I want her to bhave the printer, she loves taking pictures of her babies and being able to print them out would be amazing. I want to be able to give her something but I know I'm not able to. The touchsmart, which I guess you could say is the most notable piece here; would go to my Grandma, my grandma is almost 70 years old and everything she watches has a website. She loves watching animal planet and Hgtv. She has asked me to show her how to use the computer so she can go online but her eyes aren't the greatest so she can't see the little pointer, and she has arthritis so using the mouse can be painful at times. As of right now her life is probably less than what she would want, she eats/sleeps/watches tv. She used to be extremely active. She is %100 native American and she grew up on a reservation and she dealt with racism and she worked her entire life, this is something she more than deserves, it would mean everything to her. Not just as a new item in her life but as a connection to more people than just her neighbors, she has been wanting to look up one of her brothers who moved to Hawaii a long time ago and if she had this it would put her on the right track. This is probably the most important part of the package, I wish you guys knew how much she has been through and how much this would effect her. The Hp-mini, would go to my step mom as a Christmas present, she is always on the go and hardly home but can't afford more than a note-pad. Her and my Dad are trying to start a restaraunt and catering buisiness and this would help them a lot. They are always writing stuff down and this mini would be a portable godsend for them. The mediacenter would be for my Dad, without a doubt. We don't have a lot of computers or anything but this would be a very nice addition and he would love it. I am aware they're just computers and it may seem like they wouldn't have sucha large impact, but this package would likely give my family a nice boost, and hopefully help me finish getting my 'degree', thanks for reading. - ron - ronstarusnak@gmail.com |

animoto share the magic
This is an incredible oppourtunity for me to share with those less fortunate that some. Personally, I am entering this contest in the hopes that I might win, so that I can send the entire prize package to a Missionary Family I know in Africa. They have a very old computer, that is not very reliable. I would love to be able to bless them with this gift to further their ministry there, and also to enable them to stay in contact with their family back here in the states. I want to thank Planet X64 for holding this contest, and for giving me the chance to help others!!! Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!! |

This was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Cool tool. I'll have to try this again some time. Next time, I'll put in more photos.
My link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scRmC85n9Kw Most of our boys don't have access to computers at home. We could really use a computer or two for our troop for downloading merit badge requirements, printing maps, doing project research and submitting records. We'd also like to get our bookkeeping on computer again. We're hoping that having some great technology will not only streamline our work and make us more efficient, but will pique more interest in scouting in our community. We're in a rural area with few constructive opportunities for kids outside of school. Scouting is a wonderful outreach for kids with long-term benefits for their future. Access to cutting edge technology like these HP computers would be an amazing opportunity for our young men. I have a few other charities in mind for the remaining hardware as well.
