I tried posting over on the NS forums for help, but the high and mighty people were disagreeable and banned me when I called them out. Someone else using xp 64 seems to have posted in the same thread as well. Perhaps with more people from here asking about it, they'll feel compelled to do something about it. I am using a laptop, R4012US with a broadcom adapter that's built in -- works fine in Windows XP 64, but won't work in netstumbler for some reason. Anyone else using any other brands that work with NS in xp 64? |

I really have to admit that I'm glad I'm not part of that organization. Seems to be filled with "FIGHT THE MACHINE!!!" elitists that have let thier heads swell to the point of deeming themselves demi-gods in their own minds to the point of not wanting to help anyone other than those that have a similarly equal level of "knowledge". Forums by default are there for people to communicate and relate information that is helpful or pertinant to the subject at hand. Jumping to the link you provided really surprized me at the blatant disrespect given to such a general help question by what seems to be the moderators themselves. I'm sorry that I can't give you any insight to your problem itself but I can say pretty reliably that you shouldn't get any responses here at planetamd64 like you did at netstumbler. Just didn't want you to start feeling like you had somehow stepped on someones toes, when after reading the thread it was obvious that the problem was not with you at all. Keep up the diligence, I'm sure someone here with the same problem/equipment will collaborate and help at some point when a fix is figured out.

I'm SOOO sorry you had that experience my friend. I was so enraged by thier callous and mean handling of your problem that I had to go sign up for thier forums for ONE good shot accross thier bow to tell them what I thought of thier unproffesionalism. Tho I expect to get banned right off the bat, I'm happy knowing that I got a good shot in and they will have to have read it to know I need to be banned, and so WILL get my message.
here's the text of the message since they may delete my post along with banning me, but it was worth it QUOTE(moshpit) I'm shocked and dismayed by what I've found here. I came over here from PlanetAMD64 because one of the users who had a VALID problem and HAD done all he could on his own to fix the problem was pretty much verbally raped here for asking a FAIR question. Before I go on, I already can see just how wrong the mods here are with thier power trip, and I know I'm going to be banned on my very first post. Good. I only came here to let the mods know they are unproffesional, rude, no class, low lifes that have a stuck up, elitist, self-serving attitude that ANYWHERE else would get YOU banned. Enjoy your little realm of power, it's all you must have, obviously, to boost your tiny little egos. As a IT proffesional who has worked for many of the big name companies and learned ALOT about supporting a product, it's blatently obvious that this forum is run by children who have NO interest in doing REAL support, and are only looking to shoot people down for needing help to make yourselves feel better about your lack of ability. Your excuses for lacking knowledge of x64 is sickening. First you say it's a beta OS and not worth your time, then when corrected, whine about it only being 2 weeks old as a FINAL OS. So then, which is it? Do you even really know? Obviously not. What I saw is your mods attacking somebody verbally because you don't know the answers and are afraid to simply say "I don't know, lemme find out". I CERTAINLY hope you don't work in my industry because bad apples like you give techs a bad name all the time. Your god-complex is digusting and I'll be laughingly awaiting the ban that's to come because your too afraid to face reality. Bite me, jerks. the link to the thread is here until it's deleted by those power mongering bxxxxxxs: http://www.netstumbler.org/showthread.php?...0463#post120463 Enjoy it while it's there, I let em have it with both barrels, as we say here in Texas... |

Well done, Mosh. I got your PM and no worries. Such is the price one pays for being a pillar of moral fortitude and just being decent people. The less qualified seem to think that tearing down someone else is the same as building oneself up.
Please have no fears as they can do nothing to us legally, as we have done nothing except be helpful, courteous and respectful. Take care and enjoy PlanetAMD64.com. Guru |

It's a FARGING Haxxor proggy????? OMFG! I cannot believe I let them off so light. DAMN, I shoulda eaten thier lunches MUCH more thuroughly, freaking bandwidth thieves. I HATE those kind of scum! They are one of the very reasons I got into this industry to fight against those kinda lamer punks! Geeze, now I feel stupid for letting them get off so easy as to have been somewhat reasonable with them...
They should learn to pay for thier bandwidth, not steal it from hardworking people who actually DESERVE thier bandwidth. I apologize to anybody offended by my outburst, but I feel strongly that unless your at a KNOWN free hotspot, Wardriving to steal bandwidth from legit users is WRONG. well actually I use it to find out were my high and low points are in a network. when I am on site.
I have my own wireless network I also use it to test out the security of the ones I set up. Istumbler is acually on the apple downloads site. XP (since SP1) has used a similar app for it's zero configuration wireless setup. so anyone with a laptop can do that right now but those people are quite obnoxious. they would probably not last here. |

Somehow, I didn't think YOU were using it for illegal purposes, and my sentiments wern't directed at you, just the losers who use it for underhanded means.

Maximum PC recommends the program to everyone so they can find out if their network is detectable. They have printed several guides on making your WAP invisible. The price is right. it's free.
