Within minutes of running emule i get a bsod related to nvtcp.sys. my system is as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ OC?d to 2.30GHz
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
ADSL connected to NVIDIA nForce4 Gigabit
NVIDIA Firewall running on Medium setting
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Any ideas?

ive tried searching google but all i got was a few threads mentioning nforce4 mobos/drivers and a post mentioning something about network setting and/or a firewall. is this problem related to nvidia's chipset drivers possibly? or just the nvidia firewall?

btw im not sure if this was the right place to post, i apologize in advance.

the firewall. some are having better luck w/ the firewall using the latest beta
nvidia drivers:

are you using sata or ata drive(s)? there might be an issue
if you are running any sort of striping raid without using the new f6 floppy
at the creation of the array, so just use the lan and nforce networking choices.

Running ASUS A8n-SLi and googled for "NVTCP.SYS" came across your post...

I'm hoping those beta drivers fix my problem as well :)

they should. the "new" nvidia drivers (6.66) should address this issue as well.
hope all works well. welcome to planetamd64 Alaeth :D

Thanks for the welcome :)

Unfortunatly neither the 6.66 drivers, nor the ones you posted helped... I woke up to another BSOD and tried the 6.66 ones... another BSOD a few hours later. So I've disabled the NVIDIA firewall and am running just the Windows one.

One thing I did noticed, the NVTPC.sys did not get installed properly until I bootted into safe-mode. I did a version compare, and the one in system32 was still 6.39 (which I originally installed). Reinstalled in safe-mode seems to fix it up.

I'll keep you posted if I solved the problem...

Just a quick update... I've uninstalled the NVIDIA Network Access Manager and performed some serious stress test downloads (of Linux distros only of course wink.gif) totalling over 25GB down/ 15GB up. The result is my system has not blue screened once since I removed the NVIDIA firewall.

A shame really, it sounded so promising. Maybe I'll try it again in a few months. For now, TinySoftware.com makes a great 64-bit firewall for only $99. Linky
