Is there any program out right now like Norton Ghost 9 or Acronis True Image 8 that is compatible with Windows x64? I know that both of those, the two best imo, won't work correctly.

That's what I also want to know. I have tried Norton Partition Magic 8.05 and Norton Ghost 9.0 and they just don't work with x64. Are there any replacements for these progz?.

K_Perro, do you think of PowerQuest's PM 8? Cause, Norton's PM 8.0.5 does not work, that's for sure!!!

Hi TomCat_Ri,

PowerQuest was snaped up by Symantec for about one year ago. Itīs still the same product and nothing changes.

The only possibility on XP x64, to make a partition, is with PM 8.0 from disc and it works!

There is also a second alternative:
Go to Computer Administration -> Driver Administration (under Defrag) and you can see all yor partitions (The Windows Partition Manager).
Its maybe not the best, but you can make yours partitions, change driver letters and format them to.

Hey Aries,
Anyway, I bought a new Hitachi 160 GB SATA drive and booted from the old Maxtor. I couldn't create partitions on the new drive form x64 and PM 8.0.5. was installed properly on my drive C: (x64). So I finished partitioning with Windows PM. The problem is that I would create 7 objectives with Norton PM and every time I would get an error after step 3 of 7.

Anyway, Norton Ghost also does not work because of some .SYS driver that it needs and which is not x64 compatible. P.S. I installed .NET Framework 1.1 but nothing :-(

I had this to, donīt ask me why this happends, I realy donīt know.
Solution of mine:
Do allways only little steps (1-3) and it works without problems.

If all you need is an image of the drive ghost corp 8.0 works great with bart's boot disk across the network or to a disk in the system.

Well since we are back to this topic, what is recommended for a striped setup and having the backup placed on DVDR? I ask awhile back and no one was 100% sure it seemed, now x64 has a little more maturity so I am hopeful someone knows of a capatible solution for DVD use when you toy with RAID0.
