I am getting ready to upgrade to Windows 7. I will do it replacing my hard drives. I am down to two drives.
$349 each Kingston V+ SSD 128GB 220MB/s reads 110MB/s writes 2-3 year warranty vs $180 each Seagate 146GB 15K.6 SAS 171MB/s outer 110MB/s inner 5 year warranty They will go on my LSI Logic MegaRAID 8708EM2 128MB DDR667 battery cached RAID controller in RAID 1. I am leaning towards the SAS drives because of the cost and they are not that much slower than the SSD. My current Seagate 146GB 2.5" Savvio 10K.6 drives 89MB/s outer 55MB/s inner. Either drive will at least 2x the performance. My current RAID 1 using Seagate 146GB 2.5" Savvio 10K.6 drives Benchmark Results Drive Index : 104.84MB/s Results Interpretation : Higher index values are better. Random Access Time : 1ms Results Interpretation : Lower index values are better. Windows Experience Index Current Drive : 5.9 Results Interpretation : Higher index values are better. Performance Test Status Run ID : LSI MegaRAID 8708EM2 146GB (RAID, NCQ) Platform Compliance : x64 System Timer : 3.58MHz Operating System Disk Cache Used : Yes Use Overlapped I/O : Yes I/O Queue Depth : 4 request(s) Test File Size : 16GB File Fragments : 4 Block Size : 1MB Detailed Benchmark Results Buffered Read : 1.01GB/s Sequential Read : 119.73MB/s Random Read : 128.25MB/s Buffered Write : 679.29MB/s Sequential Write : 31.91MB/s Random Write : 31.21MB/s Random Access Time : 1ms Has anyone used the V+ SSD drives? I heard Windows 7 is optimized for them. I know how the SAS drives will work. I was planning on two sets of RAID 1. Four drives in a Coolermaster HAF chassis.

I installed eSET (NOD32) Corporate. It has been nothing but problems.
1.) None of the global exclusions work. You can't put *.log, *.wlog. You have to exclude the entire path. 2.) No browse button on exclusion list. You have type everything 3.) eSet starts doing real time scans without being scheduled. Two servers crashed. Active Directory server lost a user account. 32-bit SQL Server is missing registry entries for SQL. I have to deattach all the databases and uninstall/reinstall SQL 2005. 4.) realtime scans slow workstations and servers to a crawl 5.) I asked 10+ times to speak with a manager. They don't call back or want to talk to me I put it on about 4 weeks ago. Every server started locking up due to the realtime scans going off. They were only scheduled for 1AM Sunday morning. It had 60% false positives on detections. Let a Trojan horse through it detected. I downloaded Symantec Endpoint. It installed with no problem. Realtime scans don't slow down the servers. It detects Exchange and configures for it. The exclusions are working for SQL databases, and Exchange.
