I wouldn't normally touch a leaked driver package but the talk of a new interface made me too curious so I did.

As you can see from these pictures there's a new interface for the Catalyst Control Center in the upcoming 9-7 driver release. It's not a huge difference but unfortunately it takes a step back in accessibility. Most controls are now one mouseclick further away, and some two more. It may look nice but putting often accessed items furher away is a basic no-no when it comes to interface design. Fortunately the CCC from 9-6 seems to be doing fine with the 9-7 driver but that may of course not be an option with some later driver.

*EDIT*: Pardon me, the forum already had this feature. It's just that it doesn't show on the "new posts" search result page, wich is the one I use 90% of the time. wink.gif

Sorry if this has been suggested before, but I think it would be great to have some sort of icon indicating which threads that you yourself have written in already. This on the topic listings page. I don't know much about this forum system, but when present such markings are typically put on top of or at the location of these icons: Perhaps with a bright spot like for instance like so:

The only negative aspect I've experienced with moving over to WinXP x64 has been that when moving large files the system can get somewhat unresponsive compared to in regular WinXP. This is without any CPU usage spiking and the drives do run in DMA modes. I'm curious if there's any indications on whether this seems to be normal (for XPx64) or perhaps related to ULI drivers which aren't developed anymore after the nVidia takeover. This is on a singlecore system so maybe somehow my eventual purchase of a dualcore would help, but I wonder since the CPU usage is not high.

Four harddrives in the system, three SATA and one PATA/IDE. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference which drives are involved.
