Do you have a dongle that you have working?

Brand and link to driver wanted. Thanks.
Trowa
For all you people looking for bluetooth dongle drivers: YOU DON'T NEED THEM. Windows XP Pro 64 supports them all by itself. There's just a couple things you need to do.

Firstly, I should say I tried this with a Targus bluetooth dongle, but I don't see why it shouldn't work with any others.

When you first plug in your dongle, cancel oout of any driver installation wizard, then go to Device Manager and find the entry for the dongle you just plugged in. Go to the property sheet for that item and there will be a line under the advanced tab that starts with USB\VID... NOTE THIS INFO!!

Next, go to the Windows\inf directory and find bth.inf. Open it in notepad. Find the "Device Section." You'll notice there are lines that look the one you saw. Just replace the info on any one of the device lines (remember which one, you'll need it later) with your info that you got from Device Manager and save the file.

Next, go back to device manager and update the driver for your dongle. Choose "Don't search..." and "Show All Devices" and then navigate to the device whose information you replaced.

The driver will install. After that, you will auto-detect a MS Bluetotth Enumerator, which should also be installed using the "Don't search" option.

After all that, you should be set up and good to go.

I've already backed up my Nokia 6103 using this setup, so I know it works.

Cheers and good luck!

I have a Belkin BT dongle, the F8T001. I tried to load the driver this way and it loads but the device does not work. It never asks to load the BT enumerator after installing and hangs on the uninstall or driver update.

Unfortunately, I can't take ALL the credit. I just read it somewhere, filed it in the back of my brain and used it when needed. Glad it worked though, PCman, and glad I could help. bigsmilie.gif

Hmm, I've never had much luck with any kind of Belkin equipment myself. I'll definitely keep my eyes open for a solution for you Steve, and if I find anything, I'll be sure to post it. g.gif

You can use IVT Bluesoleil but it sucks.

Both of these install fine, but I wanted the extra features of software so I installed the Broadcomm Widcomm stuff

This is copied from another forum that i posted this in. I hope it helps you out.

***UPDATE***
I finally got the Anycom Bluetooth adapater and I have to say it works like a charm with the beta drivers. so if ya want blue tooth for your 64 bit computer then I highly recomend you read my article below and buy yourself an ANYCOM Blue USB Adapter USB-250 (2.0).
***UPDATE***

I just recently purchased a a bluetooth adapter from anycom and it should arive today so i will let you all know if it works or not. the reason i went with anycom is that i found that they have beta bluetooth drivers and those drivers offer alot. plus the drivers also support windows 98 so anyone that will still support that old OS will most likely support Win XP 64 for a very long time.

you can check out the bluetooth adapter here. ANYCOM Blue USB Adapter USB-250 (2.0)

This works for the Kensington 2.0 bluetooth as well. Thanks alot. biggrin.gif

Ive never had anything awesome to post on the forums...until now! I updated my OS from XP Pro to XP Pro 64 bit several months ago and have had all things work perfectly except one of my favorite devices...my bluetooth networking. :(
I have tried several dongles that have FAILED to work. Today I just tried the Ambicom BT2000C-USB. It works PERFECTLY. All you do is plug this one in and it actually grabs all the drivers automatically, no fuss or BT dongle codes needed. It was amazing. So if anyone here still wants bluetooth and cant seem to find one to work, trust me...go to Ambicom's website and order this!

Just to let you know...It works with my Sony Ericsson w600i and Palm LifeDrive's Bluetooth Hotsync program seems to work with it too! These are both great because Sony Ericsson has no x64 support for any of their cell phones and palm has offered no Hotsync program with x64 as of yet!

***UPDATE***

Ah, got it. To get the 64 Anycom driver to work with the Kensington 2.0 dongle, you have to add the hardware id as described by Trowa, but instead of the bth.in found in the Windows INF folder, make the change to:

C:\Program Files(or Program Files (x86))\ANYCOM\Blue USB-200-250\btwusb.inf

After that, update the devices driver and point to the file you just changed and the driver loads and the dongle works perfectly!

Billionton has the toshiba bluetooth 2.0 stack for x64 on their website to use with their products.

I have a Billionton Bluetooth cardbus adapter in my Acer Aspire (turion) 5000.
It has a Cambridge Radio chipset and works great with this stack.
I also tried Bluesoleil - it works - sort of - I never could get the mouse to work! ... and it is not free.
I have been able to connect bluetooth mouse (logitech), headset (logitech), Nokia PCSuite to my cell phone, and also connect to a Billionton bluetooth router for internet access!
Now if I could just fine a bluetooth enabled webcam.

Just adding the following to the [Belkin.NTamd64] section of bth.inf did the trick.

Trowa's procedure worked fine for my Iogear dongle GBU221.

The dongle showed up in Other devices as an BCM2045A. On the Details Tab of Properties the Device Instance ID Property showed a Value of USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2101. In the bth.inf file I found a BCM2033 with a slightly different PID. I changed the 2033 to 2045A and the PID to 2101. I closed the file and updated the driver. Everything went smoothly.

I am now able to communicate with my Lego Mindstorms NXT through Labview.

Hey, i have a GBU221 as well. when you said "In the bth.inf file I found a BCM2033 with a slightly different PID" where is the bth.inf file from? (i found a btwusb.inf file, but there is no BCM2033 in the file) is there any way you could send me your updated bth.inf file so i can install my iogear dongle? thank you so much!

Ok I did this with my Belkin Dongle and it worked like a charm and I love it but right after I do this my internet stops working, I went back via system restore and did it over and sure enough right afterwards the internet connection is gone, why is this and how can I fix it ? I need my Bluetooth and my Internet at the same time. Thanks in advance.

STAR THIS! Thank you!

Is driver conversion really this easy for the most part?

Hmm. I have the Anycom USB-250 Class 1 BT dongle which I used on another computer with XP Home Edition. I was pleased to see x64 drivers for this dongle on Anycom's web site, so downloaded and installed their drivers. No problem with installation.

HOWEVER, then I had no internet access, could not even reach my router. Somehow it blocked or screwed up TCP/IP I guess. So after a restore, I'm going to try the suggestion posted earlier to not install special drivers.

Later: tried the suggested approach and like another poster, it too blocked internet access. WTF?

I got XP x64 to recognize my Bluetooth Adapter, but I can't pick up my phone on it. Is there any software anybody recommends for accessing your phone on your computer through Bluetooth?

Is anyone using the Microsoft Stack? I can setup the HT820 (not PC850) using the Microsoft stack on my machine, but if I try to enable any of the profiles\services I can't find drivers for them. The HT820 enumerates the following:

BTHENUM\{00001108-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&000a (Headset)
BTHENUM\{0000110b-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&000a (Audio Sink)
BTHENUM\{0000110e-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&000a (Handsfree Telephony)
BTHENUM\{0000111e-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&000a (Remote Control)

I have this problem in both Win64 and Win32.

Thanks!
I used this method to enable an inexpensive Targus USB Bluetooth dongle.

All that was needed for the device identity line (Vid and Pid data) were the Vid (vendor ID) and Pid (specific device) numbers (in hex) up to the second backslash (not including the second backslash). I now have a working - fairly cheap Bluetooth dongle with WinXP /x64's built-in drivers - and they're more convenient for me than the Widcomm stuff I installed on a Win2000 box at work.

This enabled hot-syncing my Palm T|X via the Bluetooth -- the Palm being another topic with some interesting postings here. Hopefully - some day - eventually - Palm will support their PDA's with 64-bit USB drivers and fix their installer for WinXP /x64 and Vista 64 compatibility. I believe Vista will force their hand if they want to stay in the marketplace, but whether the installer and drivers end up backward compatible with XP /x64 is another story. Had to monkey with the system registry with a temporary change just to install the Palm Desktop (change it to install and change it back afterward).

At least I've got things working together to hot-sync now.

Thanks for the Bluetooth half of the solution!!

Although the microsoft included bluetooth drivers work, they don't support all current profiles.
My "HOWTO Bluetooth in windows x64":
eBay search for "bluetooth 2.0 EDR" and get the cheapest one available (this step isn't required, but yields the best performance.)
Go here: http://www.dev-hack.com/pafiledb/index.php...tegory&id=2
Follow the Uncrippling Bluetooth in Windows Vista RTM Tutorial, most of it applies to XP as well.

Good luck, YMMV. It worked for me.™
